Fee: €35 (Standard ticket + New Vegetation Classification Guide worth €15).
This workshop will introduce the Irish Vegetation Classification, a dynamic community-level scheme for describing and mapping Irish semi-natural vegetation. We will cover the structure and scope of the classification, examples of communities from different habitats and the resources available to practitioners, including the online ERICA application. A practical session will used to demonstrate how the classification can be applied to sand dune and saltmarsh habitats.
If you have your own hand lens, please bring it with you on the day.
Lunch: Please bring a packed lunch.
Clothing: Sturdy walking boots or wellingtons. Please dress appropriately for the weather and outdoor terrain.
Health & Safety: Please be mindful that this workshop includes an element of teaching outdoors. Warm waterproof clothing and good walking footwear are essential. As a rule of thumb, it is generally expected that any participants who sign up for a workshop that involves spending time in the outdoors will own and bring the appropriate outdoor clothing. A risk assessment for this event has been completed and participants are asked to listen carefully to the safety briefings that are delivered on the day.
